2011 SCCC Accomplishments
 Implementation of the Infant/Toddler Stipend Program has resulted in funding 8 childcare providers to assure a total of 21 slots (for a 12 month period) for children ages 2 and under.
Implementation of the New Childcare Start-up program has resulted in 4 new providers (1 in the Pinedale area, and 3 in the Big Piney/Marbleton area) with potential slots for 40 children ages 0-5.
Implementation of the After school/Summer School program will provide funding for eight school student internships (4 in Pinedale & 4 in Big Piney) to assist with the Elementary summer school program's. The goal of the internship program is to provide training and education for high school students who want to explore careers in child care. We are currently advertising and interviewing for these internship positions.
Implementation of the Enrichment Program has provided approximately 50 children through 5 childcare providers with such activities as pre-school curriculums, safety scissors, greenhouse, playground equipment and outside ride on toys. This program has also assisted in funding a week-long, day-only Nature Camp for up to 50 children ages 7-14 during the month of June. Provided by the Green River Valley Land Trust this camp purpose is to help instill a love of nature in the next generation of conservationists.
Implementation of the Education/Training Program has funded 15 childcare providers and their staff to attend trainings around the state, to further the quality of childcare provided in Sublette County. Two of these trainings were provided here in Sublette County.
Implementation of the Established Provider Improvement Program has funded 2 providers as they continue to meet state licensing guidelines. These guidelines required things such as shading and fencing around play ground equipment. Funding of these 2 providers has assisted in providing a maximum of 30 children with continued quality childcare environments.
COLA Grant: The funding was received from the Wyoming Community Foundation for the “COLA” grant to initiate our “Cost of Living Adjustment Tuition Scholarship” program. This grant provided scholarships for parents who do not meet DFS assistance requirements, but struggle to pay the cost of childcare in Sublette County. The grant amount was based on the cost of living being 19% higher in Sublette County than the statewide average. The grant assisted 2 children/families for a 12 month period for an amount not to exceed $300/child/month for a total of 36,000.
We completed our 12 month period in 2011 & were pleased that we were able to assist two Sublette County families with their childcare needs for one of the children from each family. |
